WEEDSPORT, NY (June 29, 2026) – Nearly 70 entries took to Weedsport Kartway on Sunday for the annual Pencils Down Showdown, and at the end of a fast and efficient afternoon it was Tanner Emmons and Kaleb Kiah standing in Victory Lane for PRO racing action.
The afternoon of racing featured the first attempt at a dirty tire impound following qualifying, which was considered by the majority a success. As soon as karts crossed the scales from time trials, crews impounded those tires in the kartway’s tech building and were not able to retrieve them until feature time.
As the day progressed the racing surface held up well, providing consistent racing in all classes across the aboard.
The day’s featured classes were PRO Clone 375 and PRO Jr. Blue Clone.
PRO Clone 375 saw a total of 12 drivers in action with polesitter Tanner Emmons taking the win in the 30-lapper behind the wheel of the No. 22T to collect $500. Seth Whitney claimed second after driving from deep in the field while Maxwell Boudreau, Jared Costello and Matt Chavis completed the top five finishers.
PRO Jr. Blue was a tight battle between Kaleb Kiah and Laina Stewart, with Kiah notching the $100 pay day. Landon Levey, Cayden McMarthy and Olivia Barry were the front five.
Other adult divisions were won on Sunday by Whitney in Clone Light and Jeremy Tuttle, who made his longtime return to Weedsport, to win Clone Heavy.
Jr. Red Clone saw yet another victory for Julian Gamble. Bryce Bartlett was in close pursuit in second just .5-second behind as Brantley Waldron, Colton Baldwin and Austin Shutts finished the field.
Jr. Green was a battle all 20-laps with Brantley Smith moving forward for his first win of the season ahead of Owen Alger, polesitter Clark McGruder, Jackson Knight and Maximus Wallace in the top five.
Mason Kiah visited victory lane in Jr. Purple Clone on Sunday ahead of Chase Faucett, Rory Yaw and Ethan St. Martin.
Lastly, the Jr. Blue points event was taken by first time Weedsport winner, Landon Levey. Kaleb Kiah would finish second ahead of Laina Stewart, Dodge Smith and Olivia Barry.
The day’s Rookie Red Clone main was won by Emory Kiah.
Weedsport Kartway returns to action on Sunday, July 19 for the Summer Nationals featuring $500 to win PRO Clone 375 and $100 to win PRO Jr. Purple Clone.
