WEEDSPORT, NY (October 19, 2026) – Weedsport Kartway saw its largest turnout of the 2026 season for Sunday’s James Shutts Memorial and at the end of the day it was Dan Marsden snagging the top prize of $1,022 as the PRO Clone 390 James Shutts Memorial champion.
The victory came in Marsden’s first attempt in the JSM and marked his 12th career triumph at the Weedsport oval.
Weedsport’s winningest driver, Seth Whitney, claimed the Precision Racing Products $100 pole award for the 44-lap main event, with Dylan Clemons and Parker Allen starting just behind. Clemons and Allen would each earn $50 from Wallace Racing Promotions as the second and third fastest qualifiers during the afternoon.
Whitney would speed off into the lead in the race’s first segment, which would run 22-laps. The first half of the race saw several cautions, which shuffled the race order on numerous occasions.
The early cautions aided PRO Clone 375 winner, Nick McGill, in making his bid to the front. McGill drove from 11th on the starting grid to second in the first 22-laps, chasing Whitney across the line, as he earned $222 from Dan Kapuscinski Motorsports Promotions as the halfway leader.
Whitney and McGill led fourth starting Marsden, Dylan Begy, Maxwell Bourdeau and Jamie Shutts in the front six positions at lap 22. Those six positions were crucial, as during the halfway break those drivers would perform the race’s customary redraw to see how they would realign for the final 22-lap run to the finish.
The redraw would significantly shuffle the deck as Marsden would draw the pole position ahead of Begy, Shutts, McGill, Whitney and Bourdeau. As the race went back to green John Palmieri, Mike Seefeldt, Kayle Tiffany and Seth Perrin would fill the front ten positions.
Unlike the first segment, the second segment flew to the finish with Marsden well in control. Whitney, who restarted fifth after leading the first 22-laps of the race, did his best in a charge back to the runner-up position, but it was too little, too late.
Marsden would race away by 1.2-seconds over Whitney, Begy, Shutts, Bourdeau, McGill, Palmieri, Perrin, Adam Kouk and Parker Allen.
Perrin claimed $50 from Keister Kart Products as the race’s Hard Charger, while Wes Alfred was awarded $50 as the Hard Luck recipient from Tyler Tech.
McGill also earned an extra $50 as the Highest Finishing Super Heavy Driver, from Keister Kart Products.
McGill also tacked on an extra $500 earlier in the day as the winner of PRO Clone 375 over Marsden and Whitney.
Other PRO winners on the afternoon included Clark McGruder in PRO Green, Mason Sharts in PRO Purple and Kaleb Kiah in PRO Blue.
Points division winners on Sunday were Bryce Bartlett in Jr. Red, Owen Alger in Jr. Green, Sharts in Jr. Purple, Kiah in Jr. Blue, Begy in Clone Light and Whitney in Clone Heavy.
Maverick Bassett was the day’s Rookie Red winner.
At the end of the day track champions were also crowned with Julian Gamble (Red), Alger (Green), Sharts (Purple), Kiah (Blue) and Whitney all earning track titles.
