WEEDSPORT, NY (September 1, 2026) – The Super DIRTcar Series will make its second and final stop of the 2026 racing season to Weedsport Speedway this Sunday for the $10,000 to win Cavalcade Cup 100, presented by Stirling Lubricants.
A former tradition is reborn this Sunday as the best Modified competitors in the northeast return to Weedsport as part of Labor Day Weekend.
Leading the contingent this weekend will be current series points leader, Alex Yankowski. With four wins on the year and a series leading 14 top ten finishes, Yankowski tops defending series champion, Mat Williamson, by 84-points.
While Williamson has shared Yankowski’s top five consistency, the wins have simply not come. Only one victory in 2026 sees Williamson trailing, as he tries to right the ship at Weedsport, which has treated him well in the past.
Within 150-points of championship leader, Yankowski, are Alex Payne and Jimmy Phelps.
Payne has one win on the season, coming at his home Land of Legends Raceway, but the driver of the No. 70A battled for Victory Hill just last month at Weedsport before ending his night in the turn one wall.
Few may have picked Phelps to have more wins than both Williamson and Payne at this point in the season, but his two victories have him riding in the top five of the title fight. His Weedsport experience and recent success at The Port, have him coming in as a favorite for a $10,000 pay day.
Odds makers would be even more shocked to learn that Matt Sheppard has zero series wins moving into September. During the SummerFAST special at Weedsport in August, Sheppard appeared well on his way to victory, were it not for a hard charging Stewart Friesen. Despite no wins, Sheppard sits fifth in the Super DIRTcar Series championship.
Filling the top ten in the standings are Jack Lehner, Felix Roy, Mike Mahaney, Erick Rudolph and Matt Stangle.
Expected to be back in action this Sunday is Hall of Fame 100 winner, Stewart Friesen. Friesen topped Sheppard in an instant classic at Weedsport back in August and has shown he is the man to beat as of late at The Port.
The Super DIRTcar Series Cavalcade Cup 100 will be joined on Sunday by the Sportsman Classic 75, as well as the NY6A Microsprints.
Tickets for Weedsport’s Cavalcade Cup can be purchased online by clicking the Tickets tab on the top right-hand corner of the Weedsport Speedway website at www.weedsportspeedway.com.

Pit gates are set to open on September 6 at 4 p.m. with grandstand gates opening at 5 p.m. and racing set to start at 7 p.m.
