WEEDSPORT, NY (May 18, 2026) – For the first time in 2026, the Super DIRTcar Series is set to invade Weedsport Speedway for the annual Heroes Remembered 75 on Sunday, May 24.
The tour’s first of three stops to The Port this season, will be the fourth event of their points paying season, which has seen a total of 92 drivers score points to this juncture of the schedule. The drivers leading that outstanding listing of campaigners are the tour’s two winners this season, Mat Williamson and Alex Yankowski.
Williamson, who won the season opener at Albany-Saratoga in April, most recently visited victory hill at Weedsport in the Heroes Remembered special in 2024. Always a steady runner at Weedsport, Williamson has nine career wins at the flagship station of DIRTcar racing. With top five finishes in all three Super DIRTcar Series events in 2026, Williamson holds a slim 9-point edge in the championship over Yankowski, who has won two SDS events in a row.
Yankowski is the man of the hour on the Super DIRTcar Series tour, having won consecutive events at Georgetown Speedway and Cornwall Motor Speedway, putting him right in the thick of the early championship battle. While Yankowski owns 35 career Modified wins, none have come at Weedsport. However, earlier this month Yankowski visited The Port for their regular season opener, snagging a fine third place finish in a strong 50-lap field behind Alex Payne and Jimmy Phelps.
That run at Weedsport in early May for Yankowski comes on the heels of a great showing at the speedway in 2025 Super DIRTcar Series action. In series starts last year, Yankowski secured three top ten runs, including finishes of fourth and third in his last two tour events at the Central New York oval.
Chasing Williamson and Yankowski in the early season standings are Jack Lehner, Peter Britten and Mike Mahaney.
Britten is the most recent series winner at Weedsport, having claimed the SummerFAST main last August, fittingly over Williamson and Yankowski. The driver of the No. 21A has two top ten finishes in series events this year, to ride fourth in the standings.
Much like Yankowski, Mahaney has recently been knocking on the door of a Super DIRTcar Series win at Weedsport. Mahaney took fifth in the SummerFAST main last season while snagging ninth in the Hall of Fame 100, along with a runner-up in last year’s Heroes Remembered to Stewart Friesen.
Mahaney will be among those usual Weedsport front runners like Alex Payne, Erick Rudolph, Matt Sheppard, Jimmy Phelps and others looking to capture the flag on top of victory hill on Sunday.
Joining the Super DIRTcar Series on Sunday will be the DIRTcar Sportsman and the CRSA Sprint Cars.
The Sportsman most recently took on Weedsport earlier this month with Hunter Hollenbeck claiming his first Weedsport win in series fashion over Connor Crane, Tony Finch II, Chris Crane Jr. and Richard Murtaugh.
The CRSA Sprinters have completed one event this season, coming at Outlaw Speedway back on May 8 with Mikey Smith collecting the victory over Jordan Hutton. The top five finishers saw Zach Sobotka, Dillon Paddock and Johnny Smith.
Last May at Weedsport it was Bobby Parrow visiting victory hill over Paddock and Jeff Trombley.
Pit gates are scheduled to open on Sunday at 4 p.m. with grandstand gates swinging open at 5 p.m. Racing is scheduled to take the green at 7 p.m.
Reserved seating for the day is set at $40 with adult general admission $35, youth ages 11-17 $15 and kids 10 and under, FREE.
Tickets can be purchased online by clicking on the tickets tab at the top right-hand corner of the speedway’s website at www.weedsportspeedway.com.
