Weedsport Speedway will open on Sunday, May 15th for open practice for all divisions. For some the afternoon will provide an opportunity for drivers to shake off the cobwebs and get some laps on their equipment. While for others it could be used to fine tune their setups for an upcoming Weedsport event.
Three huge events will showcase Northeast dirt racing superstars. SPEED SPORT and Weedsport Speedway are teaming together to broadcast three exciting events from the beautifully rebuilt New York dirt racing venue as part of the award-winning Suzuki Presents SPEED SPORT on MAVTV.
DIRTcar Northeast and Weedsport Speedway have announced that the track’s 2016 NAPA Auto Parts Sportsman Shootout Series will be DIRTcar sanctioned. The move presents significant benefits for racers and teams at the premier facility.

Weedsport Speedway is proud to present the 2016 Sportsman Shootout Series. The nine race series featuring the Crate Sportsman Modified division will kick off on Sunday, May 22nd accompanying the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series in the second annual Empire State Challenge. The Sportsman Shootout Series competitors headline on June 5th for a series double header and return June 21st along with the World of Outlaw Late Model Series.
Weedsport Speedway is putting the final touches on what will sure to be a star-studded, action packed summer of racing. The action kicks off on Sunday, May 22 with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returning for the Empire State Challenge. This event will also include the first round of the 2016 “Sportsman Shootout Series”, which will include a total of 9 sportsman events.
With 4 wins and 6 top fives, Dave Marcuccilli all but dominated the 2015 Sportsman division at Weedsport Speedway. The highlight of the Montezuma, NY driver’s 2015 Weedsport Speedway campaign was his first win in the prestigious Sportsman Classic.
Last Call at the Port Weekend Sportsman action will pick up where it left off in the spring of 2016. The 2016 Sportsman season opener will start with the remaining portion of rain shortened sportsman program. One consultation race will need to be completed to set the field for the holdover portion of the event. At the conclusion of the 40 lap event, qualifying will begin for a second Sportsman show.
Although we did everything we possibly could in order to run the Super DIRTcar Series All Ways 150, unexpected late morning rain pushed the ability to begin track prep to a point where we felt we could not recover, and today’s events were cancelled. After careful consideration we feel there are no available dates to reschedule. Therefore, the show is considered complete.
Mother Nature prevailed in Saturday night’s portion of Last Call at the Port Weekend at Weedsport Speedway, with rain and wind forcing officials to postpone Super DIRTcar Series and Upstate Sportsman Alliance events. The action will resume Sunday, Oct. 25 with grandstands and ticketing opening at noon and racing starting at 1 p.m.
