The cars and stars of the Craftsman World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series return to Weedsport Speedway this weekend for the Empire State Challenge presented by the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Northern New England.

The World of Outlaw Sprint Cars invade Central New York for the final time in 2015 on Sunday, October 25th as the grand Finale of Weedsport’s inaugural “Last Call Weekend.” Action begins Friday, October 23rd as the DIRTcar 358 series crowns its Champion on “Victory Hill” at the conclusion of the 125 lap 358 Modified Main event.
Shane Clanton drives car No. 25, but on Tuesday night at Weedsport Speedway, he was No. 1 all the way. From setting the fastest time in time trials with a new track record to winning his qualifying heat race and picking the pole in the redraw, the Zebulon, Georgia racer led the Finger Lakes 40 flag-to-flag and came out on top in everything when the World of Outlaws Late Model Series completed its Great Northern Tour.
For Tim McCreadie, Weedsport Speedway is turning into “a small Taj Mahal.” The Watertown racer said the old Weedsport track was a great racing venue, but he credited owner Allan Heinke and manager Jimmy Phelps with having both the racing knowledge and the financial wherewithal to make it even better.
When the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and the DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds take to Weedsport Speedway for the Empire State Challenge Sunday, May 17, Stewart Friesen will appear in the fields of both races. The three-time Syracuse 200 winner is slated to compete in the No. 33 Doug Emery Motorsports entry in the sprint car feature and then drive Tom Cullen’s No. 1 Westmoreland Golf Course big-block modified.
The World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series will return to Weedsport Speedway for the first time since 1993, but when drivers and fans alike head to the three-eighths mile clay oval, they will see a completely renovated, state-of-the-art racing facility.
